Refurbished Phone Exchange is a small business that sells recycled and refurbished electronic and telecommunication equipment. We decided to begin selling legacy and older equipment as we believe strongly in preserving the environment. By re-purposing equipment that the original companies no longer needed, we can repair and refurbish the equipment to sell to those looking to keep a system running.

We source our equipment from companies that upgrade their network, replace their phones, or close a business. We even buy our customers old equipment! Our goal is to keep otherwise good electronics from ending up in a landfill.

How did you earn your first sales? Which channels are now generating the most traffic and sales for you?

Like many Ecommerce start-ups, our first sales came from two channels: Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising and word of mouth. By being active in our industry, we were able to get our name out as a place to find legacy equipment. This helped us get started in our field.

As we've grown, we begun to focus on organic Search Engine Optimization (SEO) growth in addition to focusing on our expanded PPC budget and online presence.

Tell us about the back-end of your business. What tools and apps do you use to run your store? How do you handle shipping and fulfillment?

We are a small business in the truest sense of the world. We are seven full time employees that rely heavily on modern technology. We use Shopify for listing and selling our items. For order management and tracking we rely on Shipworks, a shipping management platform that integrates with Shopify.

What are your top recommendations for new ecommerce entrepreneurs?

To be successful in business, the most important thing an owner can be is passionate about their business. Find a niche that you enjoy, and dive head on. Write a blog and make people want to come to your website not just for your great products, but because they enjoy the web experience of your site.

Find a way to mange your shipping. Using specially designed software will help you save time by making entering weight and dimensions a breeze. Tracking is automatically updated and it saves you precious time running your business.
