Regal Shave was born out of my personal passion for "old-school" shaving as I was so surprised at, not only at the money I was saving, but the personal enjoyment I was getting out of a previously mundane task. Shaving was actually enjoyable for the first time in my life!
I wanted to tell every guy I knew, which led to the idea of starting a small business that catered to the growing number of old-school "wet-shavers" who had grown tired of paying the big bucks for the modern disposable razors & blades.
In no time at all, my wife & I were able to secure wholesale accounts with the major distributors in this field, most of which offer the much sought-after German brands of safety razors and shaving brushes.
We were also fortunate enough to source a product which was previously unavailable to the shaving industry, a stainless steel "razor caddy" which will accommodate up to 4 safety or modern style razors. The Razor Caddy has been a huge success as has Regal Shave and its continued growth appears certain.
Though we also sell on Amazon and eBay, when we sell a product on our Shopify site at www.regalshave.com, its always a sweet sale as all we have to forfeit from the sale is a small, reasonable transaction fee!
How did you earn your first sales? Which channels are now generating the most traffic and sales for you?
A local customer Googled "Merkur Razors, Charleston, S.C" and purchased on my Shopify site, then arranged to visit in-person to pick up his order! Google Search is our primary source for leading customers to our Shopify store.
Tell us about the back-end of your business. What tools and apps do you use to run your store? How do you handle shipping and fulfillment?
100% Shopify other than the ShipStation app for our shipping labels. We handle 100% of our fulfillment.
What are your top recommendations for new ecommerce entrepreneurs?
First and foremost, have a passion for your business idea. Offer high quality & interesting products at a fair price then build it and they will come!
